Summer in Hokkaido

Since 28 July for 9 days, the highest temperature in Sapporo has been over 30 degrees and this is a record never been broken for 68 years! Yes, it is hot, but summer in Hokkaido is very short and unlike my home town Kyoto, there is no need to use air conditioner during evening. People in Hokkaido often say summer is over after “Obon”, an annual Buddhist event for commemorating one’s ancestors. It is believed that each year during obon, the ancestors’ spirits return to this world in order to visit their relatives. So let’s enjoy short and beautiful summer in Hokkaido! There are many ice cream shops in Hokkaido.. This is “KACHA” in Chitose city, cute attractive yellow house with wide beautiful garden.
